Tin TinThe second of the new additions to our fleet for 2010 is Tin Tin, a 2006 Ovni 435. For those who are not familiar with the Ovni, Tin Tin is built of aluminium and has a lifting keel and rudder, enabling her to access some of the more unusual anchorages. She is therefore likely to appeal to the serious sailor who wishes to venture off the beaten track. Tin Tin has a flexible cutter rig, eminently suitable for Scottish waters, and the majority of lines are led aft to the cockpit. Where this is not the case she has large ‘granny’ bars at the mast. On deck Tin Tin has an electric anchor windlass and a very large cockpit with integral table and a large A frame spanning the transom from which the tender can be hung if required. She also has a bimini which can cover the cockpit. Full instrumentation is available at the helm, including chartplotter and radar as well as a forward looking echo sounder. Under power she is pushed along by a 55hp Volvo engine with a folding propeller, whilst a retractable bow thruster helps with close quarter manoeuvring when required. Tin Tin has a three cabin layout (master double forward off set to port side), double and twin/triple aft) and two good sized heads, both with shower facility. Her saloon is particularly light and spacious, and she has a very well equipped linear galley to starboard. She also has a particularly well equipped navigation station with a large screen chart plotter with radar overlay, Navtex, battery monitoring etc., and warm air heating is available to all cabins. Unlike many modern boats Tin Tin has plenty of capacity in both her water and fuel tanks, thus ensuring that charterers can explore more remote areas without having to plan their cruise around the need to refuel the boat. This, together with her rugged ‘go anywhere’ nature, makes her particularly well suited to the more adventurous sailor. Like all or boats she comes equipped with a tender and outboard, and is fully coded to MCA requirements. This means that she has a full compliment of safety equipment on board, including lifejackets and harnesses, liferaft, flares and first aid kits, as well as a range of automatic and manual fire extinguishers. She is also equipped with a large folio of Admiralty charts, pilots and almanac, together with an on-board manual and supporting literature.
